This piece started very simply as a piece of nerd humor but became the basis for and title of my senior BFA exhibit. Funny how life works. I normally work out of my home studio but during the initial assemblyof this piece I was at The Soundry in Vienna. The day it was initially assembled (I say "initially" as I split the first frame so I had to replace it later on) was at The Soundry since they had asked members to come in to work as a YouTube celebrity would be filming and they wanted to show a full house. The owner stopped and asked me about it. The next thing I know I'm rambling off an entire narrative about the piece, which is especially odd as I almost never have narrative about my pieces, not to mention that I hadn't given the piece more than five minutes of thought prior to that. The narrative kind of bounced around in my mind for a day or so afterward. From there it moved on to my white board and then to my sketch pad. Then it became my senior BFA project. All from a few calculator and alarm clock buttons I thought were funny since I'm a nerd who used to study religion.
Materials Used: Circuit board, calculator buttons, alarm clock button, remote control buttons, hard drive cable, digital print of cabling, frame.
