This piece started out life very differently. For a brief period I showed a painting called "Roses & Jewels" on the site. It was my first attempt at painting and I grew to hate it over the last year. I removed the "jewels" and painted over it. The branch-like sections along the bottom were from the original painting. They are made of a paint additive that contains tiny glass balls. I painted on more branches and then applied an abstract painting technique over it. It is finished off with a coat of high-glass polyurethane. The sides of the canvas are painted black so if you don't want to frame it, you don't have too.
Materials Used: Canvas, acrylic paint, glass ball paint additive, polyurethane.
Completed: September 2011
