Gallery Show
My first galley showing was a part of an exhibit called "Emerging Artists." A total of 41 artists who had never been exhibited were selected to take part in the show. Each artist could submit two pieces. The show runs from October 1 - October 31, 2008. The reception was held on October 3, 2008 from 5:30p - 8:00p.
Details
Sage Moon Gallery is exceptionally large. There are two full floors, with a loft like area in the back. The Emerging Artists show was displayed in and around the loft area. My pieces were hung just off the balcony railing for the loft.
The gallery is in downtown Charlottesville. It is absolutely beautiful there. One of the streets was bricked over and made impassible to cars. This allows all the local restaurants to have outdoor seating areas. There were also many shops, street vendors and street performers of all types. The weather for the opening was perfect for early October. It seemed as if all of Charlottesville turned out that night. The gallery was crowded the whole evening. |
