Original Size: 7' tall, 30" wide, 13" deep
Completed: February 2009
The goal of this assignment was to create either a dinosaur or a mythical creature. The only materials allowed were cardboard, hot glue, and white glue. Size was completely up to us. I decided to create an asian style dragon. It was originally going to stand on its own but as I started working I realized it would be more interesting if it was a part of scroll. The red pieces come from a Pizza Hut box. The white is cardboard from Hostess 100 calorie snacks. I also used the light yellow sections from Diet Vanilla Pepsi boxes to create scales on the dragon's lower jaw. The inside of the white flowers contains yellow hot glue and some yellow wires. I also used wire in the dragon's whiskers. Otherwise the entire piece is construction of cardboard and corregated cardboard. The glossy sections were painted with white glue. The darker sections were painted with white glue that had a bit of graphite powder mixed in. |
